Day #10 ~ Getting Organized Challenge (Laundry Room/closet)

Over the holidays my washer & dryer became a major hot spot for clutter!

*Don’t worry the dark paneling is going to be removed as part of our remodel! Unfortunately, the laundry area will have to wait it’s turn until we’ve finished the larger remodeling projects.

I’m loving all of this organization!

Day #7 ~ Getting Organized Challenge (The Pantry)

On Day #7 I attack my pantry!

Here is my pantry all cluttered & messy…

To find out more about the steps I followed go visit A Bowl Full Of Lemons!
Here is my whole pantry totally labeled & organized…

The labels should help me keep everything in it’s place!
The top shelf to stores large miscellaneous things up and out of the way.

Breakfast foods & snacks are within reach for my son to choose what he would like for breakfast.
Baskets help keep chip bags & bread loafs contained & protected from getting crushed.

I store onions & potatoes in the wood crate at the bottom, with 2 liter bottles of pop next to it (there is plenty of room to stock up on pop when it goes on sale- saving us a couple pennies!).

Day #6 ~ Getting Organized Challenge (Dresser Drawers)

On Day #6 I organized my hubby’s dresser.

I have to admit that the drawers were actually pretty organized so all I had to do was straighten them up a bit.

The top of the dresser was the most unorganized part…

Not a horrible mess but it did need a little boost so I followed the steps over at A Bowl Full Of Lemons.

Inside holds neatly folded & stacked clothes…

Day #5 ~ Getting Organized Challenge

Day #5 I was supposed to clean under the sink…

However, the cabinet under my sink is empty due to some plumbing “issues”.

So instead of boring you with a picture of an empty cabinet, I thought I’d tackle an area that REALLY needed attention!

My spice/seasoning cabinet…

Here it is packed full with very little ZERO organization:

I pulled everything out, removed things that could be tossed or relocated & sorted what was left.

I even broke out the label maker for this challenge!

Here it is a little emptier but fully ORGANIZED!!!

Day #4 ~ Getting Organized Challenge (The Linen Closet)

On Day #4 I tackled my linen closet…

To start out it looked like this…

I emptied everything out, vacummed it,  removed everything that didn’t belong, refolded blankets & towels &  put everything back in it’s place.

You may have noticed that we don’t have any sheets stored in our linen closet.

One of my tricks to having a more organized linen closet is to store sheet sets in the bedroom  they will be used in.

I only allow 2 sets of sheets per bed.  That helps cut back on both storage & laundry.

Day #3 ~ Getting Organized Challenge (The Messy Tupperware Cabinets)

This week has been BUSY!!!

I have been eagerly checking in with A Bowl Of Lemons each morning to find out what our daily challenge is!

What I have been struggling with is finding the time to post about it.

To say the least this first week back to school has been insanely busy!

The important part is that I have taken the time to complete each challenge and because of that I feel more motivated than ever to get my home more organized!

Finally it is Saturday *YAY!!* and I have a little time to post what I’ve been up to this week!

I have a lot of posting to do but hopefully I’ll be all caught up by Monday!

So, on to Day#3 of the Getting Organized Challenge.

Time to focus on The Messy Tupperware Cabinets.

Here is my MESSY cabinet before:

This is everything that was in the cabinet originally:

I purged the Tupperware that had missing pieces.
Then I wiped down the cabinet, and put everything back in it’s proper place.

Ahh much better!

Day #2 ~ Getting Organized Challenge

It’s Day #2 of the Getting Organized Challenge!
I am totally energized about getting more organized!
The challenge today was to organize the top of your computer desk.
This poor desk has been seriously neglected and overworked so it certainly deserved some attention.
This is our primary family computer (although we do have a laptop).
My husband uses this area to do all of his company paperwork & computer work.
Our little boy uses it a couple times a week to play computer games.
I use this area to blog, pay bills, go through mail, find recipes, email & check out all the inspiring blogs out in blogisphere.

I feel like I’m trying to prepare you for what you are about to see but I better just cut to the pictures.

EEEEEEEEWWW!! Not a pretty site! Certainly not inspiring!

I was surprised at all I found…
2 turkey feathers(why?!), 4 hair ties, a hair clip, a timer, keys, pictures, receipts, a fingernail clipper, a printer cartridge and loads of other stuff that was just plain old trash!

I decided to trade trade our old black pen holder with this one…

Isn’t she cuter? I love the green & the pop of color it brings to the black desk.

Time to see the results…
Drumroll please!!

Again let me remind you what it came from…

I sure looks better to me!
